So much useful info!

Oh my goodness, I just spent hours on this site planning my next adventure to Thailand! The National Park Guides are incredible, and the Diving Site Directories got me so hyped for my PADI certification. Detailed planning for my upcoming trip

I spent a good bit of time on the site gathering info for my upcoming trip to Phuket and Chiang Mai. I started with the Destination Brochures and then dug into the Hotel Listings, which gave me a good idea of options. The MICE Travel Services weren't relevant for me, but I did find the Language Basics section helpful to learn a few phrases. I particularly appreciated the detailed Transport Information for getting between islands. The site was responsive, and all the links worked as expected. It took me about an hour to get all the data I needed, and I printed off some of the Interactive Maps. Everything was pretty straightforward.

Good resources, some navigation quirks

I was researching the best time to visit and found the Weather Updates and Event Calendars helpful. The site has a lot of great content, like the Cultural Guides. Helpful site for planning

July is technically rainy season for some parts, especially south. But it's not usually constant rain all day, more like heavy showers then it clears up. It's also less crowded so that's a plus!

I went in July once and it was fine. Had some rain but it made everything super green and Lush. Plus, you can often find better hotel deals then too. Don't let the 'rainy season' scare you off completely, it's not like monsoon season everywhere.

It really depends on how long you're staying and what you'll use it for. If you're there for months and want visa convenience and airport perks, it can pay off. For a short trip, probably not.

My friend has one and loves it for the visa stuff, like not having to deal with extensions. Also gets some good airport lounge access and stuff. But yeah, you gotta be there for a while to make it worthwhile financially.

Yeah, I remember seeing something about a Bangkok city pass. I think it covers some attractions and maybe some transport? Not sure about everything though, but it exists.

They totally have tourist discount cards for Bangkok! Not direct from the TAT site itself, but they list partners. I saw one that bundled museum entry and some other stuff. Worth checking their 'deals' section.

Nah, they don't sell tours directly from what I've seen. It's more like a directory. They'll point you to licensed operators and give you ideas, but you book elsewhere.

Correct, they're just an info hub. They give you all the resources to plan your trip and find legit tour companies, but you won't be buying anything from them directly. Think of it as a super detailed guide book.

Is it true you can get VAT back as a tourist in Thailand? How does that work, like is it a big hassle at the airport?

Yep, you can get a VAT refund. You just need to make sure the shops are part of the 'VAT Refund for Tourists' scheme and get the paperwork there. Then you claim it at the airport when you leave. It's pretty straightforward, did it last time.

Yeah, but make sure your purchases hit the minimum amount for a refund and you keep all the receipts. It can be a bit of a line at the airport depending on the time, but definitely doable.
